Rob Johnson, W.A. Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Road Safety, has issued a statement confirming that Western Australia will adopt the new road rules for the use of child restraints in motor vehicles on October 1st, 2010.
The changes will ensure WA complies with the new Australian Road Rules and will require children:
Children aged seven years and over can still be restrained in an adult seat belt as the law currently allows.
Children aged between four and up to seven years will not be permitted to sit in the front seat unless all other seating positions are already occupied by children under seven.
